Time Off is Tiring

I just had a month off and I’m exhausted.

My company was recently acquired by another and we had a pregnant pause of 30 days before we got our walking papers.

I’ve had a steady job since I was 14 so I’ve been waiting 36 YEARS for this opportunity. Every day a new adventure! Finally, some progress on that to do list! Time to stop and smell the roses!

I exercised every day, painted half of my house, cleaned out closets, turned my garden, power washed the house, lunch with friends, day trips to hike and drink beer, shopping, shopping and more shopping. I got my haircut, when to the gyno, dentist and my general practioner. I got a massage, cooked new meals. EXHALE..

Here are a few things I learned this month.

  1. Given the time, I’m a fretter. I bought pillows and fretted over them. I literally made six trips to the store to get them, return them, etc. I did the same with running shoes. Bought four pairs before I settled – on pair number two.
  2. Store music sucks. I’ve spent a lot of time in them this month and they really need to up their game.
  3. I can be irritating to those around me. Apparently, people don’t like you to make to do lists for them. Who knew?
  4. It’s probably not good to work out every day. My body hurts.
  5. I worry about a lot of things that I never worried about before. Where will I park between two stores? What time do I need to leave to get to my appointment in time? What’s the best angle for that new pillow? You must have a percentage of worry in you and you apply it to any situation you are currently in.
  6. Finally, I don’t know how to stop and smell the roses. (I’ll put this on my updated to do list)

I started an awesome new job this week. THANK GOD. Now I can get some rest…
