Dear CDC Mother Fuckers:
I am writing this because I NEED to. You will probably never see it but I need to get this out of my head. Not only for my mental health but, for the sheer pleasure of writing curse words to all the assholes who have changed the course of my life, as well as my family’s life.
My son was born typical in January 2002. He reached all of his milestones and then at the age of 15 months, when he was given his MMR and varicella vaccines, he started his downward spiral into his silent, autistic prison.
For YEARS…you imbeciles have told us “crazy parents” that there is no correlation to autism and the MMR vaccine. You “experts” were adamant. Insisting that Dr. Andrew Wakefield’s groundbreaking study on the effect of the MMR vaccine to gut health and autism was full of flaws. As a result of the backlash from this study, Dr. Wakefield was publicly humiliated and BANNED from practicing medicine in the United States.
Now, in 2014, years after my sons diagnosis and after we completely depleted our bank account trying to help him live a productive life, Dr. William Thompson admits to omitting statistically significant data in a 2004 study linking the MMR vaccine to increased rates of autism in African American boys. A 340% increase in risk. Kind of a big fucking detail to omit don’t you think?
Well. Isn’t that just so noble of you Dr. Thompson? You finally get the balls to admit you and your colleagues deliberately left out VITAL INFORMATION in your study. Congratulations for stepping up and doing the right thing…10 goddamn years later. Do you have any clue how many hundreds of thousands of children were born in the US in the last 10 years?? How many boys, in particular, that were affected by autism because of this particular vaccine?? How many LIVES were forever changed by your “research” because our pediatricians told us these vaccines were safe and made us sound completely INSANE for questioning them? Well, fuck you CDC and Dr. Thompson. I’m so glad that you can clear your conscience and feel good about coming forward. In the meanwhile, I live with a 12 year old that cannot talk and whose body is out of control. A young boy who still lacks bladder and bowel control some days and who routinely hits and pinches us because of his extreme level of frustration for living in a body that doesn’t work right. I have just spent the last 10 years trying to comprehend the magnitude of this disorder all while trying to lead a “normal” life for my other 2 children. I have “accepted” this disorder and all the pain it’s caused my family. I have prayed continually for years to find the “purpose” that my son must live under such circumstances and then YOU come forward and throw this shit in my face? Shame on you. Thanks to you and the hundreds of other idiots at the CDC, I now get to take Prozac daily to help me manage my chronic anxiety, depression and anger that autism has given to me.
The good news is that I have a very strong faith and realize that my son, with or without autism, is still an unbelievable blessing to our family. Maybe if you had come forward 10 years ago he wouldn’t have autism or, maybe he still would. I will never know. I hope this recent turn of events has the CDC and all the “scientists” out there re-thinking all the past research regarding vaccines. CDC, I hope you step up and find ethical, honest and trustworthy scientists and researchers to continue investigating the effects of vaccines on our children. Do the right thing. The health of our future generations is in your hands.
