Summer Reading

Now that summer is officially here, I thought I would recommend some beach reads.

These are some of the books I have read lately that I could hardly put down:

The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh – A novel about a young girl’s life as she grows up in the foster care system and the impact various people and flowers have on her life.

The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult – Loved it!!!  Not a happy, feel good book but so good.  It takes place in Nazi Germany.

The Fault in our Stars by John Green – You’ll find it on the teen table but trust me you will enjoy it as much as your teen.  Also, not a happy book but very good.

11-22-63 by Stephen King – Loved it but very long.  I am not a huge Stephen King fan but this is nothing like his other books.  It is about the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Tell the Wolves I’m Home by Carol Rifka Brunt – This is about a young boy’s relationship with his uncle who is dying of HIV.

I would love to hear what you’ve been reading lately too so please chime in!!

My favorite read is Beach Music by Pat Conroy. Very long, but you can’t put it down. About a family from S. Carolina.

Thanks for the ideas! I recently finished The Light Between Oceans that I liked a lot. Also loved Mudbound and The Kitchen House.
